This past weekend I made (4) more necklaces and (1) bracelet to add to my collection. I'm really starting to enjoy this process and I'm so excited about all the ideas and new techniques that I'd like to try.
Don't forget everything that you see is for sale.

Another First...
Ok, since this blog is about The Great White Hunter and I's first as a married couple I've come acrossed another first. Just as a side note I'm not proud of this first but it is in deed a first. Last night on my way home I was minding my own business when up over a small hill a county sheriff waited for me and the G to fly by. Needless to say by using the word "fly" you understand I probably wasn't cruising at the approved speed limit for the road I was on. So, yes last night I received my 1st speeding ticket as Katie White.
Moral of the story - There's always a first for everything and of course don't speed.....and get caught. :)

My First Creation
Today The Great White Hunter and I were fortunate enough to have a pretty low key day. We spent the morning in Simla watching Riley and Brody play basketball, had lunch with the Maranville’s minus the bub and ran a few beading errands in town. My wonderful husband was nice enough to buy me a set of drawers so I could organize by bead chaos.
I then sat down and made my first two necklaces and one new bracelet. After these three projects I have decided to switch up some of the items I’m using to make a stronger necklace since it seems I’m into the big heavy stones.
Watch out world this former single girl now has a killer hobby. Again I’m officially taking orders so please let me know if you need anything.

The National Western Stock Show
Yesterday The Great White Hunter and I ventured up I-70 to the 2011 National Western Stock Show. This has turned into a yearly destination for TGWH and me to look at cattle, shop and run into friends we haven’t seen in a while. It was plenty nice outside which made it very enjoyable to walk the yards and watch the many ranches prepare for the Shorthorn pen and carload shows. We ventured to the hill to peruse the numerous booths and of course take a moment to watch all the different people in attendance. We were lucky enough to stumble on a picture that we are hoping to purchase for the bedroom and of course I found a purse. We had an early dinner at the All You Can Eat Buffet outside of the club and enjoyed free beer from a celebrating ranch after their big win in the Hereford competition. (Side Note – we did know the sister-in-law of the big winners. We didn’t just take free beer, what kind of people do you think we are?) We finished the evening hanging with our favorite fellow G-Money and soon headed south full of food, beer and with a special stock show scent.

New York City - A little piece of heaven...
Last weekend I traveled to NYC for PBR’s first 2011 event at Madison Square Garden. I was fortunate enough to have some free time to do a little shopping at Macys, Lord and Taylor and Forever 21 to name a few places. I ate AMAZING food from pizza to Italian to seafood, plus amazing red wine ran like a free flowing stream all weekend long. I would have to say after all of this I did get one treat in NYC that quickly flew to top of my all time favorite list. As you all know I am a HUGE dessert fan, and one of my favorites is of course the cupcake. In my past I have many different store made and homemade cupcakes. Plus, a few years ago I had the pleasure to visit Sprinkles cupcakes that are located mostly on the west coast. After this visit these cupcakes quickly rose to the top of my dessert list. They were moist and melted in your mouth with an addition of oh so fluffy frosting to fill out the balance. Well, ladies and gentlemen Sprinkles was KNOCKED off the top of the list when I sank my teeth into a Crumbs cupcake. My friend Sara has been bragging about these cupcakes for a while and luckily she had an extra moment to introduce me to the store in Herald Square. These cupcakes are a little piece of heaven! The cake is not too moist but melts in your mouth and the frosting is not too sugary and creates a nice balance with the other flavors. These cupcakes are AWESOME! Oh, and did I mention they have all kinds of random flavors. A trip to NYC would not be the same without a trip to this shop. Side note – I hailed my first NYC cab all alone this trip; this is a huge accomplishment for me.

The New Year…
I was just telling the Great White Hunter that after all the craziness of the holidays I realized one thing, we didn’t get one picture of us together. We didn’t get one at Christmas and we didn’t get one this past Friday evening when we rang in the New Year at our friend Garrett’s house. It was a small gathering with some of our besties from up north. We played Wii for most of the evening while drinking adult beverages. (Side Note – I’m trying to make this PG in case my niece reads this.) My friend Debbie and I were holding our own against a very beat driven 5 year old during the game “Just Dance 2”. But, let me tell you after enough adult beverages this very white country girl would have given Tina Turner a run for her money dancing along with this game.
Since I officially don’t have any photos of The Great White Hunter and myself from this past New Years I’m instead going to post a photo of my 1st step towards achieving one of my New Years resolutions. My fabulous husband told me that if I start making my own jewelry he would buy the beads. So, Whala… Here’s one of my first creations, (3) bracelets to match a necklace my friend Emily and I bought while on a fabulous little shopping trip. I know it’s not much, but compared to what I would have spent on a bracelet to match the necklace this was a much better decision.
Now to my New Years resolution, I’m hoping to keep getting better and better at this little trade and by the end of the year create my own page on Etsy to sell my creations off of. That’s right Ladies, watch out this former single girl has a new hobby and I’m taking orders today.
Happy New Years!!!
